We’re excited to properly introduce you to Emma, our new CEO. Emma joins Cultivating Community from food rescue organisation SecondBite and FareShare following a 15-year career spanning the NFP, government and corporate sectors.
Background and experience
Over the years, Emma has worked across a range of community organisations, helping them develop sustainable funding models and build lasting partnerships with philanthropic organisations, government departments and corporate businesses with a strong focus on building connection and deepening meaningful impact.
Emma firmly believes that community organisations can create lasting change when they combine practical delivery with strong partnerships and sustainable funding. She tells us “when those elements come together, the impact can be extraordinary.”
Outside of office life
In her personal life, she has spent a lot of time volunteering in animal welfare and also shares her life with three rescue dogs, each with their own personality and story. She’s been involved with rescue organisations and shelters for many years, helping to care for and rehome rescue animals who haven’t had the easiest start in life. Outside of Cultivating Community, she’s a big foodie and loves to cook up vegetarian feasts and she’s also a keen amateur potter and says she’s getting better each day, so you might expect a teacup for festive season! The road ahead
Tasked with leading our new strategy and brand, Emma has taken the last few months to settle in and really understand what we do and why and is keen to ensure we continue to deliver on our commitment to underrepresented communities in overcoming economic, social and nutrition barriers.
